I believe that your happiness in life is not dependent on your circumstances, but rather on your attitude. We all need help in "attitude adjustment"! Techniques like the Quieting Response help us tell our bodies that everything is OK, to calm down, relax. If I only remember two things from the Quieting Response, they would be: Sparkle Smile, and deep breathing. As soon as I start my sparkle smile, I start to giggle inside, and when I exhale after a deep breath, I feel myself starting to unwind. When Phil introduced us to the Quieting Response technique, he gave us a card with the four basic steps. I have that card on my desk, and it reminds me to smile, breathe and relax. Believe it or not, I need to be reminded! Thank you Phil, for showing us how to adjust our mental attitudes! —Anne P., Portland, OR, Northwest Electrical-Industry Women's Society, commenting on the "Six Seconds to Less Stress" presentation.
